Fusing uplifting jive with rolling rhythms and soulful harmonies, AlanFunk is a fresh, energizing young South African band based in Cape Town.

After 2 months of rehearsals Alanfunk debuted as an eight-piece band sharing the stage with Cape Town DJ legends HoneyB and Fletcher at friend Alan’s house party in December 2005. The name stuck, but the garden party moved on to clubs and venues all over Cape Town, including the Vodacom Jazz on the Rocks Festivals, Barlycorn Festivals and the City of Cape Town Lights Festival. A debut album was released in May 2007 and the band ended the year with performances at the Obzfest and the V/A Waterfront Amphitheatre. Alanfunk have performed at just about every musical venue in Cape Town and have been regulars at The Zula Sound Bar in Long Street for the past two and a half years.
AlanFunk also recorded the theme song to the soon to be released Hollywood documentary “Do you Believe in Magic” which recently won an African Academy award for best documentary in Nigeria.

Now a slick 6-piece, the band released the Fire Demo in July 2008, which showcases a sample of new tunes in preparation for the second album.

Singers, Nhoza Sitsholwana handles vocals upfront, with bandleader Steve Kramer on bass, Geoff Adams on drums and attitude, Nelson Mahlela on keys and inspiration and Dan Boshoff on guitar and feeling.
All the members of AlanFunk now sing backing vocals as well and Victor guests on Sax!
