Not too long ago in a land
where musical creativity had become a scarcity, destiny inspired The Monroes.
Through numerous auditions, ensuring the ideal artist for each spot, the band
was carefully designed. The music, however, developed intuitively into
something unlike anything written before. Most closely described as melodic hard
rock, characterized by distinct guitar riffs and solos, the compositions
creatively flourished. Orchestrated by fate, with an innovative sound, The
Monroes are tenaciously dealing a shockingly ever after.
BRIEF HISTORY:
This impeccable
band was twisted and shaped together by both Sid Webster and Kenny Valentine
with nothing but immense success in mind. These guys had a noteworthy mission,
the vision to produce one of the greatest bands to ever hail from South-Africa.
They had a mental picture and nothing would stop them from achieving their
final goal. Almost immediately they started writing material and auditioning
musicians from all corners of South-Africa. They soon discovered that to build
the perfect brand they will need incalculable hours and patience equivalent to
that of a sedated “Zen Master”.
The
audition development started early 2009 and after advertising vigorously online
and on posters they eventually ended up with at least 15 unsuccessful vocal
auditions. Due to not feeling productive the guys got impatient and contemplate
the idea of Kenny going for formal vocal training. At this point Ryan Howell
was sent by a family member of the band to try-out. Ryan made an appointment
and the guys never heard from him for the next 2 months.15 additional vocal
auditions later Ryan phoned to find out if they found someone yet. It turns out
that a tragic accident took the life of his girlfriend and thus he didn’t get
back to the band during that time. At
this point the gifted guitarists where so frustrated that they sent Ryan into
the recording booth not expecting miracles. They played him a prerecorded backtrack,
pushed record and left the studio. The next day they went back to listen to the
product and was astonished by Ryans vocal range and ability. Without more ado they
phoned him to offer him the front man position.
Shortly
after discovering the ideal front man they stumbled upon the talented Miguel
Loureiro. The same demanding process was followed for all auditions and while
Miguel was warming up on the drums the guys realized that the band was finally becoming
a robust character. Miguel got the part now all they need is a bassist. While
surfing the internet Sid came across a bassist named Klement McCoy who just
left his old band. They promptly got in touch and Klement rushed to the scene. After
the auditions they decided to run through a couple of other bassists before
making an informed decision. 6 Months after the initial audition due to no
success they phoned him back for a second audition and offered him the part.
Finally The
Monroes was born with a full band filled with dedicated serious musicians.
Shortly after the formation the band started recording their debut E.P. Many
hours were spent to create the perfect international sound. The final product
was a clear indication that this band will be a force to be reckoned with. The
band started getting feedback from well renowned industry experts. After completing the E.P The Monroes decided
to tackle the industry by getting in touch with one of the biggest labels in
South-Africa: Sovereign Entertainment (Label for Parlotones, Wonderboom and
CrashCarBurn). Without delay got back to the band and before any live shows
where played the band got offered a full recording and management deal by the
mammoth Sovereign Entertainment. Unfortunately the band had to decline the
offer for the time being. The Monroes
got booked to play some of the biggest festivals in South-Africa. With their
energetic live show and international quality it was inevitable that they will
be scooped up by the Americans.
The Monroes soon after hearing the good news about the
South-African label got approached by an American agency during OCT 2009 and
was offered a full 1 year tour to America. The band realized that
their vision is falling in place perfectly and accepted the tour and will be
leaving the shores of South-Africa March 2010 if all goes as planned.
The band is
currently working on their debut album “Suicide Carnival” and is due to be
released early 2010.
