Night Sky Empire

The promising, new band, Night Sky Empire, is arousing interest on the Joburg rock circuit with their cool and adventurous music. Formed in May 2010, this intelligent and creative trio have a uniquely colourful, atmospheric and slow-burning rock sound spanning several moods as their music meanders and shape-shifts with ease and joy. Guitarist Thato Knox, bassist Harry Hathorn and drummer Cale Waddacor have developed their own soulful signature sound … an enchanting melange of alternative/indie, progressive and freeform rock styles, including cinematic elements of post-rock.

Autumn of August

Leaves From A Heart Shaped Tree - banner.jpg

Autumn of August is a crucible of influences that have come together to create a sound that is revolutionary in its own right, with each member contributing in his own way differently every time.

AoA came together from different backgrounds with all the members previously playing in other bands. White, Marnus and JP grew up together since high school, first playing for a 3-piece punk band called More than Muffins, which then matured into a more progressive band called This Is Us. Rossouw in turn played for Acherontia and also sessioned for Slagyster before the band split up. Francois played for for 2 different metal/hard rock bands over the past few years.

Scarlet Street

SST (7 of 174) copy 2.jpg

Scarlet Street introduces a twisted melodic feel to their solid rock sound.

From the start melodic rock was the sound streaming out of the rehearsal room, but the past is the past and this four piece only look towards the future. March 2010 saw them releasing their debut EP “Let Me Say How I Feel” produced by Will and Dewald and recruiting two new members on bass and lead guitar, suddenly a different dynamic exploded and what you have now is a band that will deliver a live show were the tracks make you feel they have been the soundtrack to your life.

The only thing to do now is close your eyes and loose your self for a while….

The Ocean Doesn't Want Me

The Ocean Doesn’t Want Me is committed to making things difficult for ourselves. Case in point: Writing the follow-up to our debut album “Which I hope to live for” has, to this point, taken 2 years. A great deal of that time has been spent rewriting twelve minute concept songs, and it is an ongoing affair. Some would call that sophomore-jitters, we call it par for the course.

TODWM is currently in the process of acknowledging the things we cannot change. We’re in the program. Once we’re done with that, we’ll start making lists of everyone we’ve hurt along the way. Expect an apology any day now. Maybe then we’ll get to the recording of the new album.
