The Native Groove Collective feat DJ China at Mojo's 4 March, 9PM Mojo’s Jazz and Cocktail Bar, 96 Station Rd., Observatory, Cape Town R60 (R40 students) The Native Groove Collective promises a night of great South African music presented in an urban setting - where young urbanites can converge to hear hard hitting grooves that will inspire audiences from all backgrounds. The 12 piece band, led by Mandla Mlangeni and featuring the likes of Sisonke Xonti, Justin Bellairs, and Lwanda Gogwana, with guest artist Mark Fransman, will showcase South African tunes, exploring and opening a dialogue with these tracks in a setting relevant to the current generation. They will be followed by DJ China keeping the grooves on the decks.

KaribaRimba combines African marimba/percussion band with brass. It performs with 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 members. So far we’ve performed under the name Intsholo. The ten-piece is unique and will never be equaled--a cd is available. We've performed throughout Southern Africa, as well as Norway, the U.S.A. and France.

Mike and Frank are fresh young voices from Cape Town’s townships, combining gruff ragga – voicing with the sweetest melodies and harmonies. Their material ranges from reggae, through R & B and African and the dance repertoire is always intersped with acapella segments, showcasing tight harmonies.

The original members are Mike, alias Thobela Mayeki and Frankie, alias, Bongani Hewu – who hail from Nyanga and New Crossroads, respectively.
