Jonathan is South African born, and was raised in Stellenbosch and schooled anywhere they'd have him. He spent most of his childhood skirting farm roads along the rivers and the chalk lines of sports fields at school. He came to his adult senses while in the thick of Ethnomusicalogical study on a small island called Benbecula in the Northern sea. A nurture-imbibed yearning for wildness brought him home to the sounds of Lou Reed , Buddy Holly , Of Montreal and Sonic Youth. Stepdog is his voice of displacement, a rights to passage and a Polaroid self-portrait.
