Musicians petition the Minister of Trade and Industry to change copyright law

The Performers Organisation of South Africa Trust (POSA) has launched a petition calling on the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies, to amend the copyright legislation to allow about R80-million in unpaid Needletime royalties to be paid out to the country’s recording artists and record companies.

Over and above the juicy content we'll have some great competitions for our readers.

A Marketing Student at UCT with an interest in concerts , events and fashion and have experience as a semi-professional photographer. I am available for hire for such occasions.

I live in Pinelands in the Southern Suburbs and get out to see photograph live bands at least once a week. As a musician myself and with much practice with a camera, I am able to capture a great deal of special moments with the right timing.

Let me brief... I have written a TV Show, and I am looking for unsigned bands/musicians, or relatively unknown bands/musicians, who are interested in having their songs played at the end of an episode.

There are 6 episodes, so essentially I need 6 bands/musicians.

Much of today’s reggae music has turned something so pure and beautiful, into a commercialized parody of itself. Jahmings Maccow is taking reggae music back to its roots by focusing on its foundation, storytelling. Stories about life, love, and the social ills of the world, backed by soulful music, seep into your eardrums and touch your heart and soul.

Jahmings rose from the quiet island of Anguilla, to the rough ghettos of South Bronx and was influenced from infancy by music coming from the Mississippi Delta and the Caribbean. He rose to become one of New York City’s toughest reggae acts during the 80's, with bands like Catch-A-Fire and The Enforcers. In the early 90’s, he moved to Los Angeles and has branched out to become more of a rhythm & blues, rock guitar.
