JHB - RIVERDANCE EXTENDED

Due to exceptional demand 16 performances of Riverdance, the original Irish dance, music and song production have been added to the Joburg season in 2011.

The performances, presented by M-Net and Big Concerts, are now scheduled for the Teatro at Montecasino from 25 January until 20 February 2011.

“Riverdance is the original and probably the most successful show of its kind to come out of Ireland and the response by local audiences is most pleasing,” says Attie van Wyk, CEO of BIG Concerts International. “Riverdance is the standard by which all similar shows are measured and South African audiences will for the first time experience this not-to-be-missed family entertainment experience,” adds Van Wyk.

Pirates meet panto....

Pirates and panto is explosive mix

Joburg audiences are in for a treat as they join celebrity stars in Janice Honeyman's Robinson Crusoe and the Caribbean Pirates at the Joburg Theatre.

Shows come and go all year round. And then there’s the annual Joburg Theatre pantomime, written and directed by the irrepressible queen of double entendre, Janice Honeyman. Seen by over 80,000 people each year, last year’s pantomime Pinocchio even won the Naledi Theatre Award for Best Musical Production of the Year.

Irish Musical Heritage Fuses with Hip Hop at the Fugard Theatre

Hip-Nós, a unique production fusing song and dance from Ireland with the sparks of hip-hop, is coming to the Fugard Theatre in Cape Town for a once-off gala performance on 29 August.

Sean-Nós (pronounced shan nos) is a style of song and dance that is at the heart of Ireland’s artistic heritage. Its infusion with urban rhymes, beats and verses has developed into a whole new art form, and Hip-Nós is a production exploring this space where the traditional and urban meets.

Soar like an Eagle reviews

It has been an amazing journey, and the whole world still awaits...

Ahead of our first production, Soar like an Eagle held a community show in Rocklands. The support has been appreciated. Who knew this could go so far?

Soar like an Eagle takes to the stage ....

The Production is based on the True Life Story (with threads of poetic license) about overcoming challenges and finding that part of you that shines....
