8 years ago just 2 Care Clowns went to visit the Red Cross Children’s Hospital. Now they are part of a national movement of over 100 volunteers – spreading hope, love & joy to approximately 3500 people each month.

The Africa Centre presents Talking Heads Live in Cape Town on 26 November 2011

Talking Heads Live is an event that uses the art of conversation as a potent way to exchange and build knowledge about the world and ourselves.
For one night only you are invited to engage with a live Wikipedia of fascinating thought leaders, experts and mavericks. A bell marks the time and you move from table to table engaging in four, 20 minute conversations; it could be with a human geographer, perfume mixologist, worm evangelist, sangoma, climate change dissident or a futurist … who knows who you’ll meet.

Robin Jutzen, Talking Heads curator, describes this event as “an exciting and much needed platform for sharing the extraordinary ideas and expertise of Africa’s thought leaders.”

The Fugard Theatre will be the hub of Open Book, Cape Town’s new book festival, from 21 – 25 September.

 

The Festival runs across various venues in the city, and as the hub, the Fugard Theatre and Fugard Theatre Studio will be used extensively for events, as well as house the Open Book office for the duration of the festival. The following are some of the highlights that one can expect.

A Far Country: A new solo album by Bright Blue’s Robin Levetan
