‘Middle Earth’ is a term that reach back before the Middle Ages and was used to describe what we call the physical 'known' world as opposed to the higher and lower worlds.

We chose the name ‘Middle Earth’ as we wanted a name that would draw an audience that relates to the esoteric world of myth and fantasy.

Based in Cape Town, ‘Middle Earth’ have operated on and off since 2007, doing a season at Touch of Madness and Monkey Valley Resort in Noordhoek.

The bands lyrical theme and feel is rooted in mythology and nature and our sound ranges from ambient to upbeat, acoustic rock, depending on the nature of the event.

Storm 'Awesome' Thomas, (born 11 July 1985) Started Smacking on pots and pans and jamming on school desks at an early age. He received his first drumset from the age of 14. He played in a church band, then moved into amateur theatre. Finally hitting his first gigging band Metal Act Mute. Shortly after that, he started doing percussion, vocals and harmonica for Death Valley Blues Band. He also played drums for Punkers The Braineaters and percussive drumming for Submachine. Then eventually moving onto drums for Death Valley Blues Band. He has played festivals such as Woodstock, Splashy Fen, OppiKoppi, Lucky Fish, Thorn Fest, Mutherfudd.

Concussion Girl Biog Concussion Girl has been around in one form or another since the late 90’s, when Beverly and Kevin first started working together. Initially known as “South”, the band has been through numerous line-up changes, but the current line-up has been in place since the release of their first highly successful album, “Ride” in 2007. The one new addition has been the recent acquisition of the talented Darren Drawbridge on guitar which has expanded and broadened the bands musical range and ambitions. Concussion Girls’ track record is one of building a reputation and a repertoire of songwriting and performance that delivers the musical goods every time.

K.I.A.T. is a 5 member band from Zimbabwe, currently resident in Cape Town and play their music on marimbas, mbira, djembe, drums and acoustic guitar with beautiful vocals.

Their style ranges from African traditional music to what they call K.I.A.T. music.

There is a preconceived idea that girls can’t drum, but Chix with Stix have eliminated that thought from any skeptics mind forever. Initially attracting audiences purely out of fascination, Chix with Stix now has a solid fan base that is constantly growing. The band members are Stefania, Rikki and Anastasia. Not only do these three girls aim to make a name for themselves in the music industry, but also to be respected for what they do.
