For years, the South African Music Industry has been flooded with “Battle of the Bands” competitions. The formula is simple: coerce a bunch of young and upcoming bands looking to take over the world, promise them the world in exposure, prizes and record deals, choose a winner based on ridiculous measurements, and then forget all about them.

In the meantime, while no one was looking, Cover Bands started to take over. Now, in almost every suburb of every town or city in every province in South Africa, you can find at least 1 venue with a Cover Band playing.
These bands are of the most hard-working bands around. They have to practice week-in and week-out, keeping up to date with the newest, most popular music, playing sometimes up to 5 or 6 gigs a week.
