Symphonic winds blow through UP

The year 2013 has arrived and it is once again time to fill the Musaion with the wonderful sounds of the UP Symphonic Winds.

In 2007, the Pretoria University Concert Ensemble sadly breathed its last breath, but in 2012 it arose from the ashes in a new form – fresh, funky and with much more flair – and we witnessed history in the making with the inaugural concert of the University of Pretoria Wind Band, titled “The Winds of Time”.

The members of the UP Wind Band are all vibrant young musicians from all the faculties of the University of Pretoria who have joined forces to create music with a new, fresh and groovy sound. Their repertoire includes music from genres ranging from contemporary classical, big band, classic rock and pop.

Audiences can look forward to excellent entertainment! Eddie Clayton, esteemed musical director and conductor of South African Tattoo, Tree Aan and Lied van my Hart, will be leading from the podium.

The concert will be held in the Musaion at 15:00 on 10 March 2013 and tickets at R80 for adults and R50 for students and pensioners will be available at the door.
