Greg Bester

Greg Bester is a sound engineer based in Johannesburg.  His career began 10 years ago in the United States where he went to high school (emphasis in music), university (music composition) and headed up local record label and studio Megaton Records in Orem, Utah with wrestling great Maxx Payne.  He was a musician first, playing in bands from a young age, which eventually brought him into the world of music production and live sound/recording.  This gives him a versatile edge in that he knows how to communicate with musicians/artists in to get the most out of the project/session/event.

Greg has experience in the following fields of audio:

Live sound

Greg is proficient in both the analogue and digital domains and has extensive experience mixing live music, setting up PA systems, monitoring (also as a monitor engineer), and general stage management.  He has mixed shows reaching into the thousands (est.) and is comfortable on large and small-format mixing consoles in both the analogue and digital varieties.

Studio

Greg's studio career started 10 years ago in the United States, mentoring under wrestling (and music) great, Maxx Payne at his studio, Megaton Records.  He has toured the United States extensively and learned from LA greats such as John Feldmann and has also worked with the gold-selling rock act, the Used, for their debut self-titled album (touring guitarist).  Since then, he has re-located to Johannesburg and has been recording/producing music ever since in the Edenvale-based studio, Shifted Audio.  There he has recorded/produced many styles of music including: Rock, African Traditional, Jazz, Gospel, Metal, and R&B, among others.  A short list of artists/musicians greg has worked with are:
