Wayne de VilliersGood day like most young people i was not sure what i wanted to do when i finished school and therefore embarked on a journey accross the ocean to the United Kingdom, the home of the British.....This is where my eyes were opened and i finally found my calling. SOUND.......What i was about to experience would change my life forever....I was amazed by the quality sound systems in Londons top clubs and the events that i went to blew my mind...The sheer size and magnitude of these gigs was totally unbelievable. You can imagine going to a concert with 60000 screaming people and still hear the crisp and clean vocals and feel that bass running through your bones 100 of meters away..The quality of the sound and staging and lighting was on another level. How did they do it ? Incredible....so i decided i wanted to become a DJ and bought my first pair of Cdjs and began to practise my mixing every night. It was something that came naturally to me and i really began to become passionate about music and how it was made.I began collecting music of all genres and just listening to each and every track breaking it down, analyzing how such a beautiful sound could be made...It sort of became my obsession.....This led me to the production side of things...I now wanted to know how to make this music.....how did they get those intense chord progressions and catchy riffs that make you want to move your body whenever you hear them. This is when i came back to south africa and i knew what i wanted to do.....sound engineering.....The ultimate career...this was my destiny,i could feel it.It felt so comfortable to me..Sound to me was not a Job....It is something i enjoyed immensly, its part of me,its like i eat sleep and drink music,........So i started by doing a production course in Jozi with Soul Candi,The course was decent but was more aimed just at the production side of things. How to use programs such as Reason and Cubase.I enjoyed the course but i knew i needed more....I wanted to know everything about sound which led me to the engineering side of things....Now we where talking....this is what i had been waiting for........mixing,mastering,miking,acoustics,cabling,patching,live rigging,electricity,events,production........I love it.
