After nearly a year since their first music video, The Swing, hit the South African music scene, Ashtray Elecric has now launched their second music video for their hit single on the Bellville Rock City compilation, Quite Overstared, on 25 March 2009. Eager fans were not disappointed by this much anticipated release, shot by Greg Fell and Dean Leslie from The African Attachment.

“‘Quite Overstared’ is more a moment than it is a statement. The moment of saying “FUCK THIS”, I’m over it.” – Andre Pienaar, lead singer of AE.

The video showcases the life of the main character, portrayed by Pienaar, through his own eyes. Although his lifestyle of rock ‘n’ roll may seem glamorous to someone passing by and outsiders, he realises that through using music as an escape, he has been exposed to a number of factors. In the video one sees Pienaar realising that although he might not be able to change other people, he needs to stay true to himself no matter what anyone else says.
