My word this is actually quite a tricky review to write. I have so many conflicting thoughts and emotions regarding this festival. It’s a delicate balance between the journalist critic and the party man, the objective versus the subjective, pessimist, optimist, etc. There is one word however, that accurately describes Rocking the Daisies and encapsulates all the mixed opinions I have about it: overwhelming. One might be forgiven for considering passing up a gig like this. I must admit, had I not been invited, I probably would have found somewhere else to go on the night. Sure, they may be two of the biggest bands in the country at the moment, but that’s just the thing – I felt a bit like they’ve both had a fair amount of overexposure lately. Between Van Coke Kartel ruling the MK channel and Zebra & Giraffe owning 5fm, it seems like I’ve seen and heard enough of them.
