It’s The 8th Annual Uprising Festival!!!
South Africa?s top independent urban music festival in it?s 8th year of existence featuring South Africa?s best bands, DJ?s and musicians.
Friday the 18th of July ? Bat Centre (Small Craft Harbor)
Saturday the 19th of July – K-Cap (KwaMashu)
Wednesday the 23rd of July – The Willowvale Hotel (Umbilo)
Saturday the 26th of July – Wave House (Gateway Umhlanga)

It Just Keeps Getting Stronger…
Most things don?t even last 8 months in Durban; the muggy humid weather just doesn?t allow it. So when someone tells you an underground music festival has lasted for 8 years you would probably tell them they were lying.
Well we have The Uprising Festival (formerly known as punk uprisings) and the organisers are in it for two reasons: The musicians performing and the crowd attending. It would seem some of the supporters feel just as strongly about the event as the organisers. Last year a fan who was supposed to be playing Rugby all weekend deliberately broke his own toe so he could get out of his sporting duties and attend, even if he couldn?t walk or dance whilst in attendance, so this year the festival is giving him free entry to all the events as to show their gratitude for this type of support ?I had a rugby tour to Pretoria and I really didn’t want to miss the festival, so I made a plan, thanks for the ticket! as long as I don’t have to break any more toes hahaha?. ?There definitely is something special about our event, we might not get the biggest crowds or necessary the biggest names in music, but one thing is for sure there is no music festival in the country with an atmosphere and vibe like The Uprising Festival and I think many of the people who have been to other music events will admit this? ? Matt Wilson (Band bookings and Marketing). It is South Africa?s longest running urban music festival and could be the only festival in the country with a permanent city based structure while most big festivals in SA opt for an outdoor camping location.
There is no barriers in-between the bands and the crowd, crowd control is minimal and everyone is pretty much a loud to do as they please (at their own risk of cause). ?Because we were getting so many stage divers ever year, we thought a good way to make stage diving, fun, safe and not a nuisance to the performers would be to build a platform solely for this purpose, just in front of the stage?- Steve Jones Festival Manager. Stage diving has become such a popular activity at the event, that you can see kids queuing to ride the crowd, quite the same as they would queue for a water slide or circus.
Most Exciting lineup in 8 years…
This year the line up looks to be the most exciting in the festivals 8 year history. ?Bands and performers genre’s range from funk, hip hop, reggae, more traditional African styles, punk, hardcore, ska, rock, indie, electro, dub, drum and bass and even folk or acoustic based music, ?there really is something for everyone and I would go as far as to state that this is the strongest line up we have ever had, it really is an exciting time for SA music? ? Matt Wilson (Band bookings, marketing).
Integration
This year The Uprising Festival will be spanning to all four corners of Durban. There will be an Event in the centre of town (Bat Centre) out in a township (K-Cap KwaMashu), the suburbs (The Willowvale Hotel Umbilo) and the traditional Wave House situated on the outskirts of the north coast (Umhlanga). So no one has an excuse to miss any of these events.
Top electronic lineup…
DJ?s and electronic based music will also feature a lot more heavily at this year?s event. This shows that the festival is expanding to cater for a wide variety of party goer. Look out for the DJ line up at every show. Dub specialist DJ Paperboy will be the resident DJ.

Knave | Tour Next Week | Upcoming Gigs
Hi all. Here are our shows for next week?
!!TANZA NIGHT!!
Our first show is on Wednesday the 25th June at ?Tanza night? in Fourways, sharing the stage with us for this first show will be an awesome band Chromium.
This is a slightly more upmarket venue instead of our normal dark and dingy hangouts we usually call home, so for all you Knave fans that have been worried to come out to the scarier places and see us live, we now offer you the chance to see us at a classier venue with more peace of mind around parking and venue, we also still get to rock out and have fun like we normally do and dress code is still normal so come as you feel comfortable, because this is our first time playing this venue we really need all your support and we would love to really get this place cooking, in light of this we will have free Diesel shades and Knave albums to give away and also our usual Jagermiester stuff to give away.
