| MTV Launches the MAMA Awards in Nigeria in November |
It’s official. No, not in that 5fm ‘MTV TRL-wannabe’ way, but an actual, ‘show-me-the-money’ kinda way. It’s called the Mama Awards, and it’s MTV’s way of saying “whoa! there’s actually a load of sh*t happening in Africa!” Check out what Represent has on this development for local music…
“…the Network has a lot of credibility and plenty to offer Africa?s musicians in sharp contrast to the MTN SAMA Awards that favours the same few artists all the time and only focuses on SA. Let us not forget the controversy-riddled quagmire of the recent MTN SAMAs which did not help the situation either, in fact if anything ? this year?s SAMAs managed to quicken the event?s long awaited coup de grace. Competition is often a healthy thing and in this case it?s long overdue.”
The Mamas will take place on November 22, in Abuja, Nigeria.

Goth Girl Arrested, Detained Without Charge
BATTLE CRY!!! This story just camen in from Underground Press, the leading Metal News site in South Africa. Share it, and have your say in the poll below.
So. I have even more reason to have complete faith in our country’s system of justice. Thursday evening, I went out with friends. It had been a long time since we had all gone out together, so indeed we had a jolly time. For me, it was somewhat of a celebration. We made merry and eventually found our way home, in a group consisting of about six people. On the way to my flat, in the next block, there is a Caltex convenience store. My friends went in, wanting to get hot chips and cigarettes or whatever the case might have been. I was still smoking a cigarette, and thus remained outside.
