Saalim Ismail


Born Saalim Ismail on 3rd May 1985 in the heart of the Cape became a local popularity at the tender age of twelve when he captured the hearts of his audience for the first time in the Great Cape Town City hall as a performing artist….. In those days, only the best performed in the City Hall….

He was dubbed "The Kutch-Kutch boy" with a dynamically versitile vocal talent known to do selectively challenging songs. And since then gained popularity, which not only exists in the Western Cape, but also extends throughout South Africas Main cities being Jo'burg, Durban, Pretoria, and George which is but to mention a few…… He also formed part of the initial group called African Gate Arts & Culture, which initiated the well proclaimed and attended entertainment in the Adderley Street end of year night Market.

The hired gun for The Coons Carnival and Cape Malay Choir Vocal Competitions over the years won many a talent contest in the Western Cape that includes Malls like "The Liberty Life Promenade", Maynard Mall, Tygerberg Mall, N1 City, Vangate Mall, Blue Route Mall and the very competitive and famous, Westgate Mall

With his baby faced mysterious innocence capturing the hearts of many, he soon became known for being a peoples person with a likeable character who also had the opportunity of sharing the stage with well known local and international Music Icons like Zayn Adam, Danny K, Mandozo and Freshly Ground on an historical event like the "Lighting of the torch" on the international stage of the Grande Parade. Other Well known Icons with whom he shared the stage includes Loyiso Bala, Gloria Bossman, (Idols) Heinz Winkler, Karen Kortje, Jody Williams, Sasha-Lee, (Pop Stars) 101, Jamali and Afro Z and this is but to mention a few.

He bloomed during a time while being managed by his father and mentor and performed at all the famous venues in the Western Cape from city central to Strand, Stellenbosch, Paarl etc. With doing six to ten shows every weekend averagely.

Saalim has not only gained Media coverage in Local News Papers for his work as an artists, but also had the opportunity of working with Playwrite Icon, the late Taliep Peterson on his Kyk Net TV show...

In 2004 "The Muse Wiz" wrote his first song entitiled Goodbye dedicated to "Natheer Arnold" who passed on due to some unfortunate terminal illness and from there-on, This Dynamic personality not only grew as a singer, but also ventured into the art of song writing/composing, producing, arranging and is often complimented for his creative quality and standard of work, Also being a Muse insiring and mentoring of youth with a passion for the performing Arts.

Saalim is a registered member of SAMRO (South African Music Rights Organization) as an author/songwriter and publisher, and is one of the founding members of CraveMore Entertainment, doing Event Coordination, Live entertainment, Production and music publishing.

"The Muse Wiz" qualified at University of Stellenbosch for Business Management, and also did a Sound Engineering & Production Course with Damelin College, and this forms only a part of his 10 Diploma worth arsenal...
