BIO:

London’s Jonny Miller has spent the last 21 years immersed in the underground electronic music scene. His roots lie in the early 90s hardcore/jungle scene but over the years his studio sound and Djing have moved with ease between broken beat, disco, dubstep and house music. He has had remixes and releases on a host of cutting edge labels including WahWah45s, Twisted Funk, Phuture Lounge, Fascinating Rhythms, West Side, Eye4Eye and Soul Candi to name a just a few. Today Jonny fills his days teaching music production at the world famous Point Blank Music School, running the well respected Sonarpilot Audio label, producing various radio shows and still manages to find the time to get into the studio and keep the fresh productions coming.

Gatecrasher Summer Music Festival brought to you by Soundscape hits South Africa in February 2012 for a spectacular outdoor international electronic music event at Cape Town Ostrich Farm.Gatecrasher is an international clubbing brand made famous for its dance music events in the UK. The Gatecrasher Summer Music Festival takes place on the 4th and 5th of February 2012, featuring Paul Van Dyk and many other artists. Revelers can expect a weekend of extravagant, exciting and exhilarating entertainment.

In the world of electronic dance music, names don’t come any bigger than Germany’s Paul Van Dyk. The maestro behind classic anthems like “For an Angel”, “Words”, “Another Way”, “Beautiful Place” and “Forbidden Fruit” is set to rock the festival along with over 50 supporting national DJs and live acts. Dean Fuel, Headroom, Haezer, Niskerone, Broken Toy, Jason47, Digital Divas, Grimehouse and Marvin and many others will be keeping the party going all weekend.

Die Tuin Dwergies have redefined the term "Tuindwergie”. All they have in common with the traditional reference, is that most of the members are much taller than the garden gnome normally in people's gardens.

They are: Peter de Jager the lead vocalist and acoustic guitarist in the band - also known as Die Kort Dwerg (Short Dwarf). Jean Swiegers the drummer - also known as Die De Dwerg. Dawie de Jager, also known as Die Berg Dwerg (The Mountain Dwarf), plays bass for the band. There is no doubting the magical effect that his beard has on the less-haired generation. In june 2010 he performed at the World Cup Reggae Conciousness in together with Northren Ireland Zimbabwean reggae artist Rassie Ai,Black Missionaries,Sally Nyundo Salim Natho and Prince Martin.
Then in september 2010 he had also an opptunity to share a stage with world reowned poet Jamaican artist Mutabaruka who came to Malwi at French Cultural Centre in Blantyre Malawi.On 23 October 2010 he left for UK
for the Blck History Month Tour with his first concert at Umojah International Club in Nottingham on 24th October.
Then he had hes second show Dublin Castle in Camden,London UK,together with Channel One Sound System,Rassie Ai,Bobo Kudah,Mystic Thieodeos,Gemston Melodies and I Mojah Ds this on 21st November 2010.The week later he was main act at the Forum charity show in Nottingham this was 27th november 2010,in aid of SOS Village back home in Malawi.The next day he had a live interview on BBC Nottingham with presenter Leah on Afro Carribean programme
together with Ras Goodies of Ngoma Dread Band a the Zimbabwe UK based band.

His next perfomance was at the Cultural Vibration 2011 in at The Maze in hosted by Rastallera Fallade,this where he met differnet promoters and managers,Namely Nemo Shaw,Chris of the Gladstonbudget Festival and Rastallera Fallade.Then he was invited for the Gladstonbudget audition at The Maze in Nottingham where he execelled to perform at the Gladstonbudget this year in May 27,28and 30 2011,then he was invited at thie year Confetti/Jullian Cotton Foundation Battle of the Bands semifinal at Bensions Cafe
on 24th March 2011 battling with big bands in nottingham and he outclassed them and he was booked for the final on 29th March 2011 at th Rescue Rooms in where he emerged the winner,through the judges.He was chosen as best artist,best entertainer and best performer

Born in South Africa (CapeTown) Kuilsriver,his birth name is Henry Pearce in family of three children.Two brothers and one sister.

A comedian, composer, musician, sound therapist and wacky, walking windbag. In this highly entertaining show he calls himself "The Marvelous Mouth" because of his amazing abilities to mimic musical instruments, animals, birds and people.

His impersonations and accents in the accompanying 'tunes', display a range of vocal gymnatsics, interwoven with a nifty technical device called a loop sampler - a foot pedal which enables Chris to multi-track and loop his voice live in front of his audiences. A one man, one mouth orchestra!

Chris has played sax and flute in a variety of jazz ensembles, cabarets as well as being involved in and performing local original music with bands and artists such as Steve Newman, Tony Cox, Heather Mac, The Jazz Hounds, Drum Cafe and his own world music project Soulbird.

‘The African Dub Father’ and bass player for 340ml, this Dub Ambassador is the brainchild of the “dub vaults” (A series of CD’s to showcase “dub” music, now on it’s 4th compilation CD). Started DJ’ing part-time in 1999 in Melville.

From a 7,000 crowd in Reunion Island to the Marseille-Paris TGV, Maputo to Cape Town, Jo’burg to Durban, DUB RUI has performed all over. When touring Europe in 2010 with 340ml, DUB RUI had 4 DJ slots at the prestigious Télerama Dub Festival in France.

Levi Pon The Mic
The first 340ml Music signed artist, based in the East Rand and Cape Town native, this humble two dreadlock Rasta is not new to the reggae music scene. His 2006 debut album “Heavy Mind” introduced the South African market the first full-length “dub” album. He has performed all over South Africa and a couple of festivals and shows in Mozambique and Reunion Island. His second album with the working title “Levitation” will be released in 2012.

Playfully and gently, your own personal instrument , the voice, will be coaxed out of mothballs to produce sounds of instruments ,or animals, or whatever you like and the group will make magic as each one of us finds a place in the groove . Simple instruments like plastic pipes will be used as the group is divided up into different rhythm sections and fun is the order of the day, as well as re- discovering your musicality!

"I facilitate interactive musical team building" he says. "We get people to make music together as a metaphor for learning how to work with one another. It's simple and it's fun".

EVENING SHOW Don't Tune Me - I'll Tune You'.

‘It's an entertaining and wacky show of music and comedy combined" he says. “I do impersonations and musical imitations. It's made possible by modern technology, with this loop pedal that I've got, a Boss DD20. It enables me to multi-track myself live; I create my own backing band in front of the audience. Once I have created the foundation - like the base and the drums and a horn section as well with my voice, then I sing, or play the flute or sax, over the back-tracks that I've just done.".

You will be serenaded by flute, overtone singing, Tibetan bowls , the hang drum* , rainstick and various other toys and surprises and will emerge from the soundscape feeling calm and energised. Afterwards you will get a demonstration of overtone singing and be shown the basics of this amazing skill.

In only a little over a decade on the music scene, Dan Patlansky has become one of the busiest and most respected blues artists to ever come out of South Africa. His music can best be described as vacillating between slick, soulful blues and the renegade psychedelic angst and raw emotion of Hendrix or Zeppelin, and listening to all of that while relaxing on the grass with a glass of wine, well that’s just awesome.

There is a slight twist with the series this year as each of the performers will be bringing an up and coming artist with them to open the gig. It will be interesting to see who Dan believes is the future of South African music.

The beautiful grounds of Lac de la Lune in Franschhoek will be opened for the first time to host a special Christmas presentation of Handel’s Messiah on Sunday 4 December at 4.30pm

The Canticum Novum Choir will be accompanied by the University of Stellenbosch Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Louis van der Watt alongside a stellar line-up of soloists:
Louise Howlett, Jen Kummer, Siphesihe Mdena and Thesele Kemane.

Lac de La Lune is situated near the entrance to Franschhoek off Cabriere and Kruger Streets at
7 Anne Marie, and is surrounded by breathtaking views of the mountains.

Gates open at 2.30 to give concert goers ample time to spread out blankets and enjoy their picnic whilst being entertained by choristers from the Koelenhof Primary School who will sing Christmas Carols before the concert begins at 4.30pm. Refreshments will also be on sale.

Tickets (on sale from Computicket outlets /0861 915 8000) range from
R220 for seated area toR120 / R80 for open lawns.
Proceeds from the concert will go towards Nazareth House.

More about the soloists:
Louise Howlett , originally from the UK, studied at the Royal College of Music in London and is known for her Across the Styles productions of mixing opera with jazz and Broadway. She is also a keen promoter of classical music in Cape Town and is a regular presenter on Fine Music Radio with her programme “For the Love of Opera”.

Jennifer Kummer gave her very first stage performance at the age of 7, as a magician, but it was her love of opera and musicals that found her studying classical singing as a teenager. Following her initial studies and opera performances in Pretoria she moved to Cape Town, and recently took up her studies again with Virginia Davids at UCT Opera School where she is now working on her B. Mus Honours in Opera Performance. Jen also runs three successful businesses with her partner and is married with two young daughters.

Siphesihle Mdena was born in King Williams Town and moved to Cape Town to study opera at UCT in 2006. He is now in his first year of post grad opera studying under the supervision of Prof Virginia Davids, Isabelle van Zyl and Prof Kamal Khan. Amongst many operatic roles, he recently impressed critics with his performance in Die Entfurung aus dem Serail and is now preparing for the new Wagner Society production of Donizetti’s Viva la Mamma in February 2012

Thesele Kemane was born in Kimberley and has sung in choirs from an early age. He joined the UCT Opera School in 2006 and has built up a steady repertoire of roles from operas including La Boheme, Cunning Little, Il Viaggio a Reims and Le Nozze di Figaro. In 2012 February, Thesele will be performing the role of Procolo in Gaetano Donizetti's Viva La Mamma. He has also performed as soloist for a number of Oratoria and in recital for the Songmaker’s Guild.

Koos Kombuis is considered one of the best lyricists in South African music. One of his most popular hits is "Lisa se Klavier", which has been covered by Laurika Rauch and The Parlotones and translated into Dutch, Portuguese and English. He has collaborated with the Belgian artist Stef Bos on two albums and Stef has recorded Koos’ song “Onder in My Whiskeyglas”.

Koos is also known as an author and columnist for several South African publications. He is a regular contributor to the prestigious "Thought leader" blog site of the Mail & Guardian newspaper. Koos is known for his sharp satirical style, never to waiver from tackling even the holiest of holy cows and the ability to bring his readers from fits of hysterical giggles to the brink of tears. Recently (in 2010), Koos decided to return to one of his first loves; science fiction and has submitted short stories in this genre to several online publications.

There is a slight twist with the series this year as each of the performers will be bringing an up and coming artiste with them to open the gig. It will be interesting to see who the artists believe is the future of South African music.

Talking Heads Live is an event that uses the art of conversation as a potent way to exchange and build knowledge about the world and ourselves.

The Dahlings are stacking their vintage army chest in front of a backdrop of blockbuster movie montages and swinging tunes in 3-part harmony.

After its initial workshop-run in The Fringe at the Joburg Theatre in 2010, Cinema Wow had a make-over and was taken to the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown where this extended version got rave reviews and numerous requests to return to Joburg.

Nadia Beukes, Elizma Badenhorst and Nacia Kruger started The Dahlings about 3 years ago and have been at it ever since.

In the universally recognized sound of The Andrews Sisters, they bring a completely new vibe to contemporary hits such as ‘Lemon Tree’, ‘Crazy in Love’, ‘The Girl from Ipanema’ and many more. They also stay true to the era of swing music and perform some of the golden oldies, including ‘Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree’, ‘Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy’ and 'In the Mood'.

The carefully choreographed backdrop of film sequences play a fourth character in Cinema Wow and add another dimension to this already explosive mix.

This entertaining musical romp is family friendly and promises to cater to the taste of every audience member. It will leave you remembering old favourites and discovering new ones.

Vodacom 4U and BlackBerry are powering 4U Rage Festival for its 10th annual appearance as the organisers swap gears for a lower cog in their preparations. 4U Rage Festival is now South Africa’s largest and most exhilarating youth event and will be taking place in Umhlanga, Ballito, Durban and Plettenberg Bay. As summer break 2011 kicks in, South Africa’s loudest brand G&G Productions will be hosting the craziest 2½ week -long party of pure outrageous action, all happening from the 25th November until the 10th December!

Greg Walsh, Managing Director of G&G Productions says that “Rage is about reaching out to our fans, listening to what they want and then delivering back the largest, loudest and most engaging event experience of their lives.”

R30.00 is a small price to pay for the exciting line up at Listeners Space this month. Step into the festive season experiencing some of Cape Town’s most amazing talent next Tuesday 22 November 2011.

Kicking off the evening will be one of Cape Town’s finest female emcee...s, EJ von Lyrik. A prolific and dynamic songwriter, music producer and performer, EJ would grace any stage locally as well as internationally with her confident energy, thought provoking lyrics and stirring melodies. Usually backed by a solid group of musicians, deejay or all of the above, her show is bound to have you hooked.

Following Miss EJ will a musical journey set to excite listeners. Alicia Kotze on guitar and vocals with sister Elzaan Kotze start the set with their beautiful sounds. Alicia recently shared the stage with Grammy Award winners Soweto Gospel Choir and well known Capetonian group Kunjalo at The Cape Town Festival at the Company's Gardens.

As the set grows, Kelly van Staden will join the pair showcasing her guitar talent featuring on some of Alicia’s songs. Usually seen accompanying Nadine Matthews around town, Kelly also composes her own music which she hopes to share with listeners soon.

Joining these gifted ladies will be Nadine Matthews on vocals sharing her conversational lyrics and mellow style this evening as well as a surprise appearance during Alicia’s set.

The concerts kick-off with the brilliant jazz pianist and vocalist Melissa van der Spuy. Melissa is a freelance composer, performer and arranger working in Stellenbosch, South-Africa. Educated in Jazz composition & orchestration at UCT as well as music production at the London School of Sound.

There is a slight twist with the series this year as each of the performers will be bringing an up and coming artist with them to open the gig. It will be interesting to see who Melissa believes is the future of South African music.

Simon & Garfunkel emerged in the early 1960’s as a young, typically harmony-enthralled folk duo. They’d cut their teeth on The Everly Brothers, and knew the Great Traditional Songbook as well as the next folk group of their era. Driven by the same strivings of their American contemporaries – to get into a good college, to please their parents,　to be admired by their peers – they were determined to have some fun along the way! As it turned out though, they were far from your average folkies. The two natives from Forest Hills, Queens, were musical sponges, and broke onto the Billboard Top50, at the age of 15 as “Tom and Jerry” – as they called themselves then – with The Everly Brothers knock off “Hey Schoolgirl” – their first song ever written together.

Their debut studio album was “Wednesday Morning, 3am”in 1964, their last “Bridge over Troubled Water”, which remained the number one album on the Billboard charts for 6 weeks after its release date.

Vintage Productions SA present – Aaron Nel – who grew up with the music of Simon & Garfunkel constantly playing in his childhood home, in the small town of Marble Hall in Mpumalanga, South Africa along with fellow vocal artist Al Andrew, who has performed at the Pumpkin Theatre as well as numerous venues around the country. Working as a Vocal Producer for various national artists from his studio in Umhlanga where he also offers master classes in vocal training. With Aaron playing guitar and both singing, blending into unique harmony, achieved only by two musicians who have the same level of appreciation for the sheer brilliance, yet simplicity that is Simon & Garfunkel.

“Memoirs: the music of Simon & Garfunkel” feature hit song such as “Bridge over Troubled Water”, “The Boxer”, “Sound Of Silence”, “America”, and many other foot-stomping, hand clapping, sing-along hits, as well as some of the more dramatic and poetic offerings from this duo, and is sure to entertain all who attend. Energetic! Dramatic! Poetic! Visually, and especially audibly entertaining stuff!

Three concerts at Olympia bakery in Kalk Bay, Cape Town on Friday 18/19/20 November 2011, featuring two of South Africa’s greatest original music talents…. Steve Newman and Chris Tokalon will be performing a ‘goody bag’ of tunes- featuring guitars, saxes, flutes, ‘marvelous mouth’ gymnastics, a space ship and some ‘loopy loops.’

If you really want to see the show please commit by booking in advance - the show will not go on unless there are enough bookings.

Steve Newman needs no introduction as one of SA ‘s finest guitarists with a versatility and dexterity that makes his guitars talk eloquently to your soul.

Chris Tokalon, saxophonist and flautist, is also known for an astonishing ability to mimic instruments and people. His mouth trumpet needs to be heard to be believed. These are skills which he artfully weaves into his 1man 1mouth music and comedy show “Don’t Tune me - I’ll Tune You ,“ with the live use of a multi tracking loop pedal. “A Lucky Packet” will feature a couple of these ‘tunes’as well as Steve Newman’s brilliant and evocative guitar pieces, interwoven with flute or sax .Also, a couple of ‘hang’ tunes’- the hang is the “space ship” part of the show – a round metal drum which is a Swiss development on the Carribean steel drum. It looks just like a spaceship and sounds like… heaven.
