'The Tea Party' is a new outdoor festival, aiming to create an event firmly rooted in the eclectic, artistic and humorous side of life, a cultural mash-up weaved together with a glittering thread of freaky funk, booting world beats, jiving rock 'n roll, swinging jazz, up-beat salsa, big beating electro breaks, honky-tonk, tech-house, flamjangled folk, and anything that 'swings' or 'grooves'.

'The Tea Party' is first and foremost about an experience. Themed area's, dressing up, performance art, over the top theatrics, absurd activities and whatever else can be thrown into the mix to create a transformed reality where you can be whatever you want to be!

'The Tea Garden' is open from Saturday morning till late and hosts 'The Great Waltz' (a world record breaking attempt!!) a little after sunset. Sunday will host 'Le Picnic' as we continue to shift sideways through a relaxed daytime party aimed to uplift and leave you feeling fresh. Nighttime escapades on Saturday night take place in 'The Munged Bean Shebeen', and other smaller night time parties.

The Abbott Network is an
unique and captivating original ensemble that was created during 2009 in the
mother city of South Africa,
Cape Town. The
Abbott Network’s repertoire can be best described as fusion. You can
expect to
hear influence from across the globe with strong authentic rhythms and
soulful
melodic attributes. The band is predominantly a studio band that
composes and
records albums for public sales and broadcast. However, the
instrumentalists of the band are also known for performing live as the
backing band to solo
artist Lindiwe Suttle. This is where The Abbott Network jumps out the
studio and
onto stage rocking it out fusion style. Combined, members of The Abbott
Network
carry many years of national and international experience. With a very
diverse
cultural make up The Abbott Network has the perfect platform to fuse
together
some interesting creative ideas. This is the secret behind the band’s
unique
and authentic sound. The band caters for both young and old and is sure
to
capture the attention of a wide range of listeners. The Abbott Network
completed their debut Album titled “Chapter One” towards the end of
2009. The
Album has a polished urban feel and crosses through many genre’s such
as jazz,
funk, drum & bass, rock and pop just to name a few. Lindiwe Suttle
also
features strongly on the debut album as one of the three vocal talents.
You can
hear her soulful tone on tracks such as "Jacuzzi" and
"Shouldn't Let Me". The lyrical content of the album caries a
strong social and political message that proves to be the general focus
of the
band. Originating from a young democracy such as South Africa, this topic seems to
be quite appropriate and the band voices some interesting viewpoints on current
affairs and social circumstances. The Album was recorded and produced by Abbott
Audio creative sound studio and promises to be a favorite among most music
collections.

UPCOMING PERFORMANCES: FEBRUARY 2012

SHOUT is fronted by sax man, Dan Shout, who brings his brand of tenor sax-driven, Jazz Fusion. Guitar maestro, Gorm Helfjord, is featured heavily throughout the set along with a very exciting young player, Romy Brauteseth on double bass and none other than Mr. Jonno Sweetman on drums.

SHOUT takes to the stage Tagore’s (49 Trill Road, Observatory) on Wednesday, February 1st from 21:30 – 00:00. Admission is free.

SHOUT hold their residency at Lyra’s (Fountain Centre, Corner of Belmont & Main Road) every Sunday in February to bring you their latest original Jazz-Fusion, featuring new material set to be recorded in Namibia in April 2012. Admission is free.

SHOUT also teams up with trumpeter extraordinaire, LWANDA GOGWANA to bring you a double-bill at Mojo’s (Station Road, Observatory) on Friday, 10th February. R30.

SHOUT performs at the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre, on Saturday, 25th February from 17:00 – 18:00. The band will be featuring an explosive set of original material. Admission is free.
