Visual Impact’s South African operations offers a complete post-production package, it services many European and U.S companies. One of our many advantages are the joint partnership with HDHUB as well as Mediahive.

Our personnel have developed and participated in large and specialised reality projects such as Idols (East West & South Africa), The Block, The Apprentice, Survivor and Fear Factor series. Through these projects Visual Impact SA has proved its capacity to facilitate world-class quality projects.

The first full length HD feature (completed in 2001) in Africa with the Visual Impact SA 24p camera also contributed to Visual Impact SA's reputation as the leader in Africa in digital cinematography. The entry of the HD feature "Promised Land" at the 2002 Cannes festival is an important milestone in Visual Impact’s investment in HD technology. This investment and capacity to provide digital equipment and broadcasting solutions was increased significantly by the purchase of Visual Impact SA by the Visual Impact Group. Through the Visual Impact Group's backing Visual Impact SA can now provide a wide range of broadcast solutions.

Visual Impact SA employs two full time broadcast engineers and has personnel capable of manipulating camera menus on all the format cameras. Visual Impact SA’s on set digital grading personnel are used extensively on HD and Digital Betacam productions. This expertise is also vital in situations where digital formats are to be blown up to film, an area Visual Impact SA are leading the way in Africa.

We are always happy to assist you in finding top quality crew if you require.

Leading SA entertainment journalist heads for NYC

Leading South African entertainment journalist, Nadia Neophytou, is heading for New York City to make her inimitable mark on the city that never sleeps.

Currently the Arts and Entertainment Journalist for Eyewitness News (EWN) where her work is featured on Talk Radio 702, 567 Cape Talk, 94.7 Highveld Stereo and 94.5 Kfm, Neophytou intends to bring her same professionalism, flair and passion for arts and entertainment to NYC from mid-December.

Starting as EWN’s correspondent in the city, Neophytou says she intends “telling the stories of the South African and African artists who are making a mark in the States, and in the world at large”.

“I want to plug in to the incredible energy that runs through the streets of New York,” this versatile broadcaster and journalist says.

Indeed, it’s the incredible amount of energy and passion for whatever she covers – be it nabbing the big stars as they walk down the carpet at the Academy Awards or reporting on the soil-turning at Oprah Winfrey’s elite academy for girls in Henley-on-Klip, south of Johannesburg – that has seen Neophytou rise to the top in a highly competitive industry.

From starting off as a writer for The Big Issue in Cape Town during university to her experience as current affairs producer for eTV’s investigative journalism show, 3rd Degree and, most recently, her five year stint with Primedia Broadcasting, Neophytou has honed a set of skills that are the envy of even the most experienced in her field.

In making her mark in NYC, Neophytou will combine the experience she gained as part of a hard-news newsroom (where she quickly created a space and respect for her beat), as well as the on-the-ball suss needed to interview the likes of Andy Garcia (telephonically), Josh Groban (in a London kitchen), Sir Ian McKellen (in a music room of the historical Fugard Theatre in Cape Town’s District 6) and John Cleese (in the hills of KwaZulu-Natal), Jean Claude van Damme, Robert Pattinson, Rihanna, Celine Dion … the list is endless, and impressive.

Says Neophytou of her impending move, “Of course I aim to focus on entertainment because that is where I am most experienced right now. But my television background and print journalism experience means that I also aim to cover big news stories, like the opening of the September 11 memorial.”

With a résumé that includes extensive print work and both national and international exclusives, Neophytou pays tribute to her work on four of the most popular and well-known talk and music stations in South Africa for helping her polish her now considerable skills.

“I have had an incredible five years at Primedia Broadcasting and would like to thank my mentors and colleagues there who helped me create the entertainment journalist slot in a very busy newsroom. I am thrilled to be able to remain part of the Eyewitness News family and look forward to reporting on positive South African stories across many different media platforms.”

The Hype.Glitz.Glamour and parties are over. It's a monday - that means back to work.Altough I don't see this past weekends Loerie Awards winners pushing paper today. They're still in celebration mode.

If you missed it, or just could not afford it - don't fret. SABC covered the whole la-dee-da event and they will be broadcasting it this wednesday.

New elements have been added to the show in the form of a brand new look and feel and new imaging.

The aim of Hang on Diniso, an exhibition of newspaper cuttings on Gamakhulu Diniso, is to pay tribute to journalists and reporters' role in the arts.

The exhibition opens at the Bodutu Art Gallery at the Vaal University of Technology on September 22.

Journalists play an important part in making the arts known to the people.

The journalists are like the wind that takes the art-pollen to far distances to germinate. Without the newspaper reports, reviews and critics on the arts, chances would be slim for the people to know what production will be presented, when and where.

'Hang on Diniso' is an exhibition of newspaper cuttings (clips) on Gamakhulu Diniso’s workings in the arts. The exhibition will be at the Bodutu Gallery, Vaal University of Technology. The exhibition is to pay tribute to those journalists who reported about Gamakhulu Diniso, dating from the Post 1978 to Sebokeng Vision 2009.

Gamakhulu Diniso has been reported in Post, Sowetan, The Star, The Citizen, Die Beeld, Oosterlig, Cue, City Press, Sunday Times, New Nation, Sunday World, Sunday Independent, Saturday Star, Pretoria News, The Argus, The Herald, The Daily Mail, Mail & Guardian, Daily Sun, Vaal Weekly, Vaal Weekblad, Vaal Vision, Vaal Ster and Sebokeng Vision.

´Amongst the important articles is the one by Robert Magwaza - Post 1978 because it was the first article I appeared in’, acknowledges Diniso. ‘To be reported by Ezra Mantini, Doc Bikisha, Don Mattera, Elliot Makhaya, Gordon Engelbrecht, Garalt MacLiam, Darryl Accone amongst journalists of note, it was fulfilling. And also to be reported by female journalists such as Maud Motanyane, Adrienne Sichel, Diane de Beer, Thembeka Mbobo, amongst the others.’

A tribute to journalists:

1. Robert Magwaza - POST
2. Don Mattera - THE DAILY MAIL
3. Laetitia Pople - DIE BEELD
4. Diane de Beer - PRETORIA NEWS
5.
