How does one introduce Prime Circle to a South African music readership? That’s like introducing a wrestler to anabolic steroids. Ladies and gents, the top selling SA Rock Act of 2002, 2003 and 2005. Dirk Boschoff, Marco Gomes, Gerhard Venter and Ross Learmonth answer to nobody, but they do have a stab at our simple questions ahead of MyCokeFest 2008.
Gerhard: I think it is a world rock sound, with a positive message and a tinge of bite.
Ross: Rock, commercial or otherwise.
Marco: About 20 years.
Dirk: Give or take 20 years.
Gerhard: Plus minus six years, going seven.
Ross: We’ve been at it for about 7 years. I’ve been at it for about 10 years.
Marco: Matchbox 20, Live, Monday Morning, etc.
Dirk: New stuff like Daughtry and Matchbox 20, also Def Leopard, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Guns & Roses, etc.
Gerhard: We have a wide range of influences, from classical 70-80’s rock, right through to today’s hard rock.
Ross: Anything from Pantera through to Counting Crows. I love it all!
Marco: There are so many, but I will have to say anything with a big stage.
Dirk: I’d like to play Wembley Stadium or Madison Square Gardens in NY.
Gerhard: South Africa! We cannot pinpoint a specific venue, because our fans make any venue ideal and very special for us.
Ross: Big stages and big crowds always gets me going best…
Marco: For the love of it, to see how our music touches others; that’s the reward for me!
Dirk: I’ve got a passion for music. Its my life and I love it.
Gerhard: Being able to make music is one of the world’s most satisfying jobs. It brings the creativity out in one, and you can express yourself in many ways.
Ross: We are musicians. We have a voice and people listen to what we say so we make it our aim to convey a positive message with all our songs and influence people in a good way.
